The Trail to Oregon

Larger View
This striking work is an original oil painting created by artist, Connie Tom. Created in the manner of revered Hudson River Valley School artist, Albert Bierstadt, this beautiful luminist work pictures a sunset on the Oregon Trail with a covered wagon, cattle, sheep, a ladened down camel and mule, men on horseback, all headed toward the West. However the sun is the center of interest that acts as a magnet and an anchor for the viewer's eye. This is a study done of the original "The Oregon Trail" by the great artist, Albert Bierstadt. This nostalgic work takes us back to imagine what it would be like to have actually been on that wagon train on the the trek westward. This inspirational painting takes our attention away from our lives today and invites us into the actual experience and share in the common feelings with those in the scene itself. This provocative work brings to us feelings of calmness, peace and serenity, of unity in spirit of a common goal, of encouragement for us to go forward in our own lives in a good direction with the same dedication and perseverance held so reverently by these early, pioneering spirited families, and an awesome appreciation for the beauty of nature inviting the viewer into this luminous scene itself. Size: 24"h x 30"w.
